Amanda Tauriņa was born in Latvia where she studied with Dainis Cimmermanis and Egils Upatnieks. She came to Zurich in 2013 to study at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste with Prof. Louise Pellerin and finished her Bachelor with distinction in 2017. Currently she is in the Master Specialized Performance Orchestra programme of the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste. Currently she is doing an internship with the Musikkollegium Winterthur and from March 2020 she will start a 2-year Orchestra Academy with Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig.
Amanda Tauriņa has won prizes in several competitions such as Talent of Latvia, Litauras Vebra 3rd International Oboe Competition (Lithuania), Concours National d’Exécution Musicale 2015 (Switzerland) and The Muri Competition (Switzerland). She has travelled and played on tour with orchestras, chamber music ensembles and as a soloist in Latvia, Poland, Cyprus, Slovenia, Austria, Portugal, China, Mauritius and more.
