Artei Theotonio Caride is a Spanish cellist currently studying in Germany at HFM Detmold with Xenia Jankovic. He started his studies at the Professional Conservatory of Music in Ourense where he graduated obtaining the Extraordinary End of Studies prize. He studied with Bárbara Switalska and Filipe Quaresma.
He has received lessons and masterclasses from Daniel Gueiss, Lynn Harrell, Pablo Ferrández, Troels Svane, Johannes Moser, María de Macedo, Matias de Oliveira Pinto, Martin Burkhardt, Gabriel Schwabe and Rafael Rosenfeld, among others.
Artei Theotonio Caride was a member of different youth orchestras in Galicia and was awarded in several competitions in Spain and Portugal: In 2018, he won the first prize in the International Competition Música Callada Ávila and the first prize in the Competition da Cidade de Vigo; in 2019 the third prize in the Competition Soncello A Coruña, third prize in the International Competition Luthiers Clar Valencia, second prize in the International Competition Cidade do Fundão and third prize in Paços de Brandão.
He participated in the Marvão International Music Festival in 2016 and 2017, playing with Kölner Kammerorchester under the guidance of Christoph Poppen. In 2018, he was selected in the New Talents Cycle Compostela Sound and in 2019 in the Festival Peregrinos Musicais, giving concerts in emblematic venues in Galicia.
Artei Theotonio Caride currently plays an English Foster school cello dating from around 1800 and ascribed to John Morrison.
