Clémence Mebsout

Clémence Mebsout | FRA | *2001
DAVOS FESTIVAL Camerata | Violoncello

Clémence Mebsout began playing the cello at the age of 5 at the Conservatoire de Clamart. She continued her studies with Xavier Gagnepain at the CRR de Boulogne-Billancourt, before joining Marc Coppey and Pauline Bartissol’s class at the CNSMD Paris in 2019.

Clémence is passionate about ensemble playing: first as a tutti cellist, then as section leader with the Orchestre Français des Jeunes from 2018 to 2019, she also performs with the Consuelo orchestra directed by Victor-Julien Laferrière, and took part in the Young Euro Classic orchestra in Berlin in 2021. She is involved in various chamber music ensembles, and was cellist with the Mirages Quartet from 2021 to 2022.

Born to a Moroccan father, she is enthusiastic about traditional repertoires, and devoted herself to studying the music of her native country during a trip in the summer of 2022. Her desire to discover and interpret new repertoires led her to found the Duo Ourika with cellist Valentin Hoffmann, in which she performs pieces from the Balkans, Ireland and Turkey.

Having acquired a taste for teaching from her successive teachers, Clémence trained as a teacher at the CNSMD Paris, and now shares her passion for the cello with a varied public in private lessons.

Clémence graduated with honours in cello in 2022, and continues her studies at the Hochschule für Musik and Tanz in Cologne with Johannes Moser and Maria Kliegel.
