Desislava Vaskova Kostova was born in Vidin, Bulgaria. Currently she studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music. She has been granted a full scholarship by Carlos Fernández González. She started her violin education at the age of five and at six she gave her first concert in Bulgaria. In 2002, after moving to Spain, she was accepted in the Integrated Music Center Padre Antonio Soler where she finished her degree with distinction. She furthered her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid from which she graduated with Honors in Violin and the Honorary Prize of the Conservatory.
In May 2015 she won the first prize in the senior category of the 13th Violines por la paz International Competition and in July 2016, she won the special prize in the Excellence category of the 4th Marie Cantagrill International Violin Competition. She has attended masterclasses with numerous violinists, and in 2013 she was selected to participate in the international orchestral academy Penderecki Musikakademie Westfalen.
From 2016 to 2019 she was a member of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester. She has participated in international music festivals such as Varna Summer in Varna, Bulgaria (2010), the European Chamber Music Course in Vänersborg, Sweden (2015), the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Lübeck, Germany (2015) and Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander, Spain (2017).
