Héctor Mira Ferriz was born in Madrid. He began his studies at age five as student of Ignacio Serrano and Ana Alonso, and received masterclasses from Rocío Gómez, Ashan Pillay, Gérard Caussé, Wenting Kang, and Tabea Zimmermann. In 2022, he obtained the Extraordinary Prize in Artistic Education of the Community of Madrid.

He has been awarded 5th prize in the III Rotary Club de Marbella Competition, 1st prize in the Cardenal Cisneros Music Performance Competition, 3rd prize in the XV Certamen de Jóvenes Interpretes César Uveda, 3rd prize in the Comunidad de Madrid Intercentros, Gold prize in Euterpe Music Awards (Germany), 1st prize in London Classical Music Competition and 1st prize at International Mozart Competition Vienna.

From a very young age he has had the opportunity to participate in interesting orchestral and chamber music projects: Camerata Infantil de la JORCAM (Jóven Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid), Talentos Project of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Concertgebouw Youth Orchestra, and Verbier Festival Youth Orchestra with which he performed as principal viola.

Héctor has been a student at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía since 2021, with Diemut Poppen and assistants Laure Gaudron and Jonathan Brown. He enjoys scholarships from AIE-Sociedad de Artistas, Intérpretes y Ejecutantes and Fundación Albéniz. He plays a Jacques Fustier viola, on loan as an instrument scholarship from the Foundation.

As a student of the Escuela Reina Sofía, Héctor has played in the Freixenet Chamber Orchestra conducted by Sir András Schiff, Andrés Orozco Estrada, and Andrés Salado, participated in the School’s 30th Anniversary Tour with performances in Madrid, Bratislava, Budapest and the Musikverein in Vienna. He currently participates in the meetings of the School’s Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Tom Goodman, and is also currently a member of the Ramales Quartet.
