Jacinta Balbontín Odi is a young violist from Chile and Mexico. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Viola at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, under the guidance of Diemut Poppen.

Jacinta has extensive experience performing with various orchestras and ensembles. In 2022, she became a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, with whom she has participated in projects with Gottfried von der Golz, Sir Mark Elder, Ingo Metzmacher and the Ensemble Modern. She has also participated in numerous festivals in South and North America, as well as in masterclasses in Europe, including Vevey Spring Classics, ISA-Sommerakademie der mdw and Rencontres Musicales from the Menuhin Academy.

She has also performed as a soloist with the Student Orchestra of La Serena University, conducted by Manuel Figueroa Bolvarán.

Jacinta has been the recipient of several scholarships and grants, which have helped her finance her studies, including the Bruno Schuler Foundation, Stiftung Lyra, Elsy Meyer Foundation, Zangger Weber Scholarship, and Stipendienfonds Fondation ZHdK.
