Lovro Merčep graduated saxophone from the Music Academy in Zagreb and the Conservatories in Amsterdam, Lyon and Versailles.

Lovro is a laureate of numerous national and international competitions such as 7th International Saxophone Competition in Nova Gorica (Slovenia), Concours Européen de Saxophone in Gap (France), 5th Croatian Competition for Young Musicians Papandopulo in Zagreb (Croatia), and 1st International Saxophone Competition Josip Nochta in Zagreb (Croatia). He is one of the prizewinners of the Best Young Musicians Award by The Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra for artistic accomplishments in 2016.

He has played at classical music festivals in Croatia and abroad, collaborating with renowned young Croatian musicians. As a soloist he played with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Zagreb Soloists, Croatian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra, Croatian Chamber Orchestra, Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, Slovene Philharmonic String Chamber Orchestra and vocal ensemble Antiphonus.

As a member of Ardemus Quartet he played concerts in Europe and Asia in halls such as Royal Concertgebouw and Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, Vatroslav Lisinski in Zagreb, Konzerthaus in Berlin, BOZAR in Brussels, Izumi Hall in Osaka (Japan) and Yangzhou Concert Hall (China). Ardemus Quartet is a winner of the 13th International Competition for Young Musicians Ferdo Livadić in Samobor (Croatia) and audience prize at Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concour in 2016. As one of the four finalists of the Dutch Classical Talent Tour & Award competition for the season 2018/2019, Ardemus Quartet had an opportunity to play a tour throughout The Netherlands and was promoted on the Dutch television and radio programme.
