Marianna Bednarska | POL | *1993
Marianna Bednarska is a young Polish percussionist. She runs an active concert activity, not only as a soloist but also as a chamber music performer and orchestra musician. She is regularly invited to international music festivals and cooperates with recognized personalities of the musical world.
She began her artistic path at the Karol Szymanowski Music School in Warsaw with the piano, which was soon replaced by classical percussion instruments. She continued her percussion education with a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart, and then with a Master’s degree at the Haute École de Musique in Geneva, where she continues her postgraduate studies.
The artist’s most important awards include the Prix Credit Suisse Jeunes Solistes (2019) as well as prizes at competitions such as the 74th Concours de Genève (2019), the International Music Competition ENKOR (2018), the Universal Marimba Competition of the Belgian Queen (2017), the International Percussion Competition at Northwestern in Chicago (2016) and the International Marimba Competition in Bamberg (2016).
As a soloist, Marianna Bednarska performed in Europe and the USA, also with orchestras such as Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Sinfonia Varsovia, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra or International Chamber Orchestra of Washington.
She was awarded with artistic scholarships in Poland, Switzerland and Germany, and received in 2013 the Polish-Danish Friendship Award for her exceptional activity between these countries.
In 2014, as the first percussionist in the history, Marianna Bednarska recorded a complete set of all of Anders Koppel’s marimba concerts in the debut album Marimba Concertos (DACAPO 2014).
In August 2019, she made her debut as a soloist at the Lucerne Festival.
