Natalia Midek is a Polish double bassist based in Basel, Switzerland.

In 2016, Natalia accepted a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music in London where she studied under Dominic Seldis, Tom Goodman and Graham Mitchell. In 2020, she successfully auditioned for Hochschule für Musik in Basel and earned her Master’s degree under Roman Patkoló in 2022.

In summer 2021, Natalia was an intern at the prestigious Gstaad Menuhin Festival and was invited to perform with Gstaad Festival Orchestra afterwards. She performed under the baton of distinguished conductors such as Jaap van Zweden, Edward Gardner, Sir Mark Elder, Marin Alsop or Semyon Bychkov. She had a privilege to perform with world class soloists, namely Sol Gabetta, Khatia Buniatishvili and Lang Lang. Natalia works regularly with Neues Orchester Basel.

Natalia also greatly enjoys performing chamber music. In 2022, she was a member of Werkstatt Kammerorchester Basel where she had a chance to perform on a period double bass.

Natalia has participated in masterclasses with renowned double bassists Edgar Meyer, Joel Quarrington, Wies de Boeve and Jiri Hudec. She won several prizes in international competitions, including Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf Double Bass Competition in Slovakia and the Alex Ross Double Bass Prize in England.
