The Portuguese Tenor Rodrigo Carreto, born in Lisbon, is currently doing a Master’s degree in singing at the Zurich University of the Arts, where he studies with Scot Weir. In parallel to his regular studies, he also works with Peter Harvey. Graduated in Choral Conducting and Music Theory by the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, Rodrigo Carreto completed vocal improvement with Joana Nascimento.
In March 2020, he was admitted to the masterclass at Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart where he worked with Emma Kirkby, Lothar Odinius and performed the Cantata Klagt, Kinder, klagt es aller Welt with the JSB Ensemble under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann among others.
Rodrigo Carreto took part in Puccini’s Tosca (as Spoletta) at OperaFest 2020 Lisboa with the MPMP Ensemble. As a soloist, he has performed with the Capriccio Barockorchester, the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra, the Choir of the National Theater of S. Carlos, the Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon and also with the ensembles Sonare, Os Músicos do Tejo, and Grupo de Música Contemporânea de Lisboa.
He is a member of Officium Ensemble and, between 2017 and 2019, was part of the Gulbenkian Choir, where he regularly worked with Michel Corboz and Jorge Matta.
In addition to Portugal and Switzerland, Rodrigo Carreto has performed in several concerts and festivals in China, Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, and Spain. He worked with singers such as Robert Murray, Yvonne Naef, Jan Elsacker, Jill Feldman, Geert Smits, Xavier Moreno and with conductors such as Ton Koopman, Gustavo Dudamel, David Afkham, John Nelson, Alain Altinoglu, Leonardo García Alarcón, and Joshua Santos.
