Born in Colombia, violinist Samuel Jiménez Collazos holds degrees from Conservatorio del Tolima (Colombia) and Musik Akademie Basel.
Awarded prizes in numerous competitions, he has been praised by the critics as a sensitive violinist, who delivers his expressive ideas with technical ease. Some of these awards include the first prize at the Frank Preuss International Violin Competition, Jovenes Talentos Competition in Cartagena, and the Premio de Interpretación para Jóvenes Solistas in Bogotá.
As a soloist, Samuel Jiménez Collazos has performed in Colombia, Chile, Germany and Switzerland, with orchestras such as Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra, Cali Philharmonic Orchestra and Camerata Franconia.
Interested in orchestral works from a young age, he started his orchestral career at fifteen years old, and has now nearly eight years of experience as concertmaster. He has led important youth orchestras in Colombia for consecutive seasons, such as the Colombian Youth Philharmonic and the Bogotá Youth Philharmonic, and has been guest concertmaster for the Laguna Mágica Festival Orchestra in Chile and the Tenerife Opera in Spain.
During his years in Bogotá, Samuel Jiménez Collazos was part of the Sociedad de Música de Cámara de Bogotá (Chamber Music Society of Bogotá), where he expanded his repertoire and deepened his knowledge of Colombian and Latin American composers.
He continues to broaden his education at the Musik Akademie Basel under Raphaël Oleg and his orchestral experience as a member of the academy 2020/2022 of Opernhaus Zürich, performing with Philarmonia Zürich.
