Silvia Ancarani, born in Rome, obtained a Bachelor’s degree at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome with honours and attended a Master Performance at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste in the class of Orfeo Mandozzi. Moreover, she has participated in several cello masterclasses with David Geringas, Ludwig Quandt, Rudolf Leopold, David Eggert, Csaba Onczay, Amir Eldan, Joachim Eijlander and Enrico Bronzi among others.

In 2015, Silvia Ancarani was admitted to the Summer String Academy at Indiana University in Bloomington in Susan Moses’ class. She won several awards in national and international competitions, including first prize and third prize at Jugend musiziert 2012 in the category Duo with piano and second Prize at the International Premio Clivis 2015.

In the recent years, she has performed as principal cello in the JuniOrchestra Young of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, where she played, among others, under the guidance of Sir Antonio Pappano, Salvatore Accardo, Yoel Levi, Fabio Biondi. With the same orchestra she had the opportunity to play as a soloist with Giovanni Sollima.
