Norwegian violinist Tuva Odland currently studies at Barratt Due Institute of Music with Stephan Barratt-Due. Previously, she has worked regularly with Ani Scharch and Detlef Hahn, both related to the Royal College of Music in London. She has also participated in several international courses and worked with Vadim Gluzman and Svetlin Rousseau, among others.

Tuva has been a substitute of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and Opera Orchestra since 2022 and a permanent member of Risør Festival Strings Orchestra since 2021. Previously, she was part of the Young Philharmonic as well as NMH Young Musicians where she held the position of concertmaster of the chamber orchestra for two years. In 2019, she was selected concertmaster through auditions and performed with the Oslo Philharmonic. As a soloist, she played with RØST.

Tuva is an active chamber musician and has played the viola in Sonoro String Quartet since 2019. The quartet has been engaged in several festivals in Norway where they gave both formal and informal concerts, participated in masterclasses and performed with other chamber musicians such as Oslo String Quartet, Jennifer Stumm and Georgy Tchaidze. As part of the Oslo Young Quartet Series three years in a row, the ensemble has received lessons from world renowned string quartets. Moreover, they collaborated with Norway’s foremost jazz players in a jazz project, recorded a concert in Harald Sæverud’s home and took part in the first edition of a Norwegian Contemporary Music Festival.

In 2022, Tuva held recitals in Halden and Flekkefjord with Sonoro, then as a violinist, and took part in Trondheim Chamber Music Festival Academy and Larvik Baroque Festival.

Tuva plays a Nicholas Gilles, on a generous loan from Dextra Musica.
