Japanese violinist Kanon Miyashita is the founding first violinist of the Moser String Quartet and a passionate chamber, orchestral, and solo musician. She is currently based in Basel, Switzerland. With the Moser Quartet, Kanon won several prizes, including the Special Award “Ambassador Ensemble of the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition 2023” (Japan), 1st Prize in the International Competition Gran Premi Musical Lauredià (Andorra), and 2nd Prize in the Orpheus Swiss Chamber Music Competition (Switzerland). Kanon has performed at numerous international venues and has been invited to prestigious chamber music festivals, such as the MonteLeón International Chamber Music Festival (Spain), the Festival Musikdorf Ernen (Switzerland), and the Trame Sonore Chamber Music Festival (Italy). Her performances have been broadcast on Radio France and New York’s WQXR radio. As a concerto soloist, she has appeared with orchestras in the UK, Israel, and Japan. Kanon holds a Bachelor of Music from the Royal College of Music (London, UK), where she studied under Professor Itzhak Rashkovsky and a Master’s degree from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (London, UK) with Professor Bartosz Woroch. She furthered her studies with a second Master’s degree at the Hochschule für Musik Basel (Switzerland) under Professor Rainer Schmidt. She was also an Akademist with the Sinfonieorchester Basel during the 2022-23 season.
