Haeree Yoo

Hae-Ree Yoo was born on November 11, 1995, in Seoul, South Korea. She is a highly accomplished horn player, currently serving as the Principal Horn of the WDR Sinfonieorchester Cologne since May 2022.
Hae-Ree earned her Bachelor’s degree with first-class honors from Yonsei University in 2018. She continued her studies at the University of Arts Berlin, where she completed her Master's degree in 2020 and Konzertexamen in 2023. In the summer of 2024, she finished her Master studies in Chamber Music at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music Berlin.
She has received numerous accolades, including being a finalist in the 16th Tchaikovsky Competition (2019), winning the 1st prize at the International Mozart Competition Salzburg (2020), and securing 2nd prize at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition (2019) with the Pacific Quintet. She had also participated in the Pacific Music Festival 2017 in Japan. Hae-Ree has performed as a principal horn with renowned orchestras such as the Deutsch Symphony Orchestra Berlin, NDR Orchestra Hannover, Wuppertal Sinfonieorchester and the Berliner Philharmoniker.
As a solist, Haeree Yoo performed with Mariinsky Orchestra, Gunpo Prime Philharmonic orchestra and Wonju Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2021, she was selected as “Kumho Rising Star” and performed Horn Recital in Kumho Art hall.
In addition to her performance career, Hae-Ree is set to begin teaching at the Aachen University of Music starting in 2025. Her career has been shaped by her studies with respected teachers like Kibum Kim, Jihwan Kim, Christian-Friedrich Dallmann, Stefan de Leval Jezierski and Sarah Willis.
